As we have seen this spring, the air quality and pollen counts can radically effect our health. The warmer weather is here to stay with the full implications of allergy season.

For those who have already been diagnosed with asthma, respiratory and allergic disorders, they must take special precautions. Those who have not been diagnosed can control their symptoms, and even prevent secondary conditions, such as sinus infections with a few simple measures.

Spring not only brings allergens, but often brings injuries, sprains, strains, aches and pains. Why? Because we spent the Winter months with longer periods of inactivity and all of the sudden run outside to be active and enjoy the warmer weather, and often, our bodies are unprepared for the impact. It is a good idea to understand what you can do to prevent overexertion and injuries, as well as treat them.

   Can Stretching Prevent Injury?


As mentioned in the overexertion article, it is always best to warm up your muscles slowly for a short period, then stretch before engaging in an exercise routine. Stretching afterward can be beneficial as well. The different types and methods of stretching have a variety of affects on your body, and particular stretching and strengthening techniques can prevent injury.

Stretching is one of the most controversial exercise topics. Doctors, athletes, coaches and trainers all seem to have a variety of opinions about the most effective stretching strategies.There are basically four stretching methods:
