EXPERIENCE
“What I like the most about being a doctor is that
my patients and I can work together to find ways to make
their lives better, whether its through an antibiotic or
a half an hour of hand holding, my patients know that I
stress that we work together towards a common goal,”
said Frank Lockwood, M.D.
Originally from Macon, GA, Dr. Lockwood
received his M.D. from Mercer University and completed his
residency in family practice at the University of Texas
– Houston Hermann. As a resident there he was an AMA
and AAFP National Scholar. Dr. Lockwood is Board Certified
in Family Practice.
“I first wanted to be a doctor when
I worked as a tech during the night shift at the Medical
Center of Central Georgia. I found myself saying I can do
this, and the rest is history,” said Lockwood. While
Dr. Lockwood is in family practice his particular area of
interest is in pediatrics and in women’s health.
Dr. Lockwood is also an
Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Mercer University
School of Medicine and is on the teaching staff for Emory
University's Physician Assistant Program.

PERSONAL
INTERESTS
When he’s not practicing medicine,
Dr. Lockwood has many interests. “Believe it or not,
I used to do stand up comedy and actually got paid for it,”
said Lockwood. Besides comedy, he is also involved in Project
Open Hand, an Atlanta HIV relief organization. He also enjoys
spending time with his “substitute child”, a
Siamese cat named Spectra, as well as his brother and parents,
who still live in Macon. |
