EXPERIENCE

A Georgia native, Dr. Taunton graduated Summa cum Laude with a B.S. in chemistry from Georgia Southwestern College.  He attended medical school in Augusta, GA at the Medical College of Georgia and then did his residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia where he served as Chief Resident.  Dr. Taunton has been in private practice as a Family Physician in Forsyth, GA since 1981.  He is also a Preceptor for the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Mercer University and the Medical College of Georgia.  Dr. Taunton is a Staff Physician for Monroe County Hospital where he has served as Chief of Staff four times.  He is also the Medical Director for Forsyth Nursing Home and Central Georgia Home Health.  Dr. Taunton and his colleagues joined The Doctor’s Office, LLC in 2005.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

Dr. Taunton is a Deacon at First Baptist Church and is active in the Sanctuary Choir.  He is also a Trustee and has taught Sunday School there for the past 24 years.  Dr. Taunton leads an active lifestyle which includes running, gardening, snow skiing, and water skiing.  Dr. Taunton is a devoted husband and father and cherishes time spent with family; they all love traveling and supporting their favorite teams - the UGA Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.
