A Georgia native, Dr. Taunton graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of Georgia.  He attended medical school in Macon, GA at the Mercer University School of Medicine and then did his residency at the DCH Regional Medical Center, associated with the University of Alabama, College of Community Health Sciences in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
